Andrews Foam activation 4-3-06Andrews arff 5th April 2006, 15:59 Hanger 5 foam activation, possibly due to stormy weather and leaking roof. Picture is from first unit on the scene. taters 6th April 2006, 10:53 As homer would say...DOH! Looks like a f**king snow storm. Bet you guys had fun washing that mess down. wlfd34 11th April 2006, 15:42 We recieved a safety bulletin today because of this incident. Apparently a number of the firefighters and some maint. personnel were taken to the hospital for foam inhalation. Firefighters did not have on SCBA when they arrived and had to rescue maintenance people in the hanger. taters 12th April 2006, 08:31 Never heard of a problem with Hi-Ex foam inhalation before. Anybody out there ever seen this problem? One of the big selling points to Hi-Ex was that you could sustain life in it. You just had to push the foam aside with you hands. Of course you can't see, or hear, crap inside the stuff. As for SCBA...should have been on for any rescue like this. Someone blew it. Andrews arff 12th April 2006, 08:53 Yes we send 8 or 9 guys to the ER to get checked out due to inhaling the foam, it was about 10 feet over there heads when teh first crew went to shut down the system.. But the contractor who gave us the class on the system said it wasnt an inhalation hazard. SOOO now we know different. WLFD.. you said you got a safety bulletin or something. If possible can you send a copy to me. or a website that has the info.. that would be great.. thanks guys.. Everyone was release from the ER a couple of hours or less later... acaprio 27th August 2007, 19:27 This looks like something for the 459th to clean up.I can say that only becase of being with that unit.
