Victrola Talking Machine

I am looking for a crank operated Victor record player. The bigger the better, but any machine will do. I am not looking to re-sell it after I buy it.

I just came back home after attending my Grandfather's funeral. These machines were a pert of his life and now will now forever be a part of my life.

The ideal machine will be the one where a family has been storing it for a long time waiting for the "right home" to go to.

I promise to take great care of such a machine.

I am willing to pay a fair price or a fair price+ for the right machine.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, even if it's just pointing me in the right direction.

I enjoy collecting old radios and found some good deals on eBay and auctions. I’ve been watching for the Victrola’s on eBay.com and they’re never cheap. Some good deals can be had at estate auctions.

My Grandfather was a Ham operator too. He had a zillion of those cards they send to each other after they make contact.

My uncle, his son, is very eccentric. Among other things, he can fix just about anything with electricity. He is an expert on fixing devices with tubes. He has all kinds of old clocks, record players, drum players, etc.

He told me the prices for these types of machines on ebay are about double the street price. His guess is auction frenzy. My uncle's house is like a museum for old mechanical and electric things. I spent half a day getting a tour of all his stuff. It was very cool! Even his house is very old. Nothing new for him.

I have found some fair prices for old 78s on ebay. My wife will probably freak out when the UPS trucks start stopping by on a daily basis dropping off my most recent trasures/78s I've bought from ebay.

I am planning on attending all future estate auctions in the Seattle area.
